Full version of the video of the river otter eating the fish. I watched it for a long time and got closer gradually. It ignored me and just ate its meal. At the end, when it finished eating, it just looked at me. So, I retreated to give it some peace so it could go hunt more fish. I also found a crayfish the otter had stashed on a submerged rock, which it was probably going to go retrieve once I left the scene. It was amazing to get within two feet of a wild otter and be able to observe it up close. I hope you enjoy this video, which gives a very brief glimpse into the lives of otters! They are an amazing species. Filmed on the Eel River in northwestern California.
